Congratulations goes out to Ms. Blanca Mata for being elected as Austin Middle School's Teacher of the Year for the 2013- 2014 school year.
Parents, there will be Open House on Tuesday, March 4, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Please come by and have a meaningful conversation with your child's teachers and get an update on how your child is doing. We'll see you there.
The Austin Middle School Orchestra competed in the UIL contest and sight reading competition February 25th. They earned the prestigious award of Sweepstakes. On stage they earned 1,1,1 and in Sight Reading they earned 1,1,2. The orchestra has achieved a milestone, a sweepstakes had not been achieved in the last 15 years. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work. Thank you to all the teachers, principals and parents who made this possible with their endless support. -Andy Arango, Orchestra Director.

Valentine Sweetheart Dance
Students, there will be a Valentine's Dance this Friday, February 14 and it will be during your electives' periods. Sixth, seventh, and 8th grade Favorites, will be announced during the dance. Tickets will be $3, and can be purchased in Ms. Barrios' room, 314.

Pasta for Pennies!
Today, our school joins 27,000 schools nationwide in the Pasta for Pennies Program. For the next couple of weeks, we will help people who are sick with blood cancers like Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. All you have to do is collect coins and other donations and put them in your collection box during lunch. Remember that every penny counts!
